a cute family feeding time shot taken up at carden yesterday.please correct me if i,m wrong on the ID.i,m going by the beak colouring{ dark upper,orange lower}

So nice and sharp Denis - what a great catch - the bug isn't even down yet :)  I was thinking it was Canada Day last year that some of us got the barn swallow babies feeding at Carden.  Must be that time of year!

I believe you are right, but not exactly the easiest angle to ID from. The bill coloration on the adult birds are hard to see and can't see if there are any wing bands from this angle. If you have pictures from other angles it would help.

I would guess that the bug actually is on the way up, as it is in the mouth of the adult bird, who is about to feed the juvie.

Great picture, by the way.

The photo clearly illustrates how totally dependent on the parents young birds are. We have so many young Robins in our neighbourhood and it's so comical seeing what looks like two adult birds with one constantly tailing and pestering the other. In fact, it's dad (or mom) and the little guy (who's not so little). Great photo!
