Good to see google maps being used for mapping bird sites. I created my own last weekend, prior to making my first trip to Carden Alvar. It worked well on my phone - as long as I had a signal! Had a great outing, no rarities but 5 life birds (but no Loggerhead Shrikes).
Here's a link to the map:

If you're thinking "this looks familiar" it's because I basically copied and pasted the content from OFO's website, with permission. Click on the little balloons to see the associated description. I'm a bit frustrated because the list on the left side of the map is not in order. It's not that I haven't tried! - pretty sure it's a bug in Google maps. Hopefully it will be fixed one of these days.
There's more content that could be added if one felt energetic. As with another map creator (stuartimmonen) I invite any potential collaborators to PM me and I will send them an invite via email to collaborate (i.e. make additions or edits to the map).

Very well done! I'll use this next time I visit the Carden! Thanks Terry

I viewed it on my smartphone this morning stvgarret-- the route appeared to be in order...
I've never been to Carden myself; it'll come in very handy when I make the trip. Thanks for putting in the effort!

Thanks for doing that! I went up there last weekend and used the map you posted. Got to see a Loggerhead Shrike, Eastern Bluebirds, Black-billed Cuckoo, a Bobolink, Eastern Meadowlark, Grasshopper Sparrows, lots of Brown Thrashers, immature Eastern Phoebes (the Phoebes had nested in the viewing shed on Wylie Rd.) and many many others. I can't wait to get back there.
Thanks again!
