Title: Chimney swifts in East York

Watching 3 chimney swifts fly near O'Connor between Hopedale and Beachwood. They've been circling of and on for 30 minutes. No clue where they are roosting, but I'm guessing its close to where O'Connor and Broadview meet.

We have a few that fly around our neighborhood every night and we're trying to figure out where they roost too.   :?

I have about 6-12 pairs flying around my complex all the time ( Bloor/ Dixie area), don't know their actual home. I tried in vain to get a picture but they move too quick and never at the same height, sometimes come over the roof at 15 ft and next time 60ft. I got some dark fuzz shots which allow one to id but not any quality to post.  This is the first year I have had them around my place

Bird Studies Canada has a Chimney Swift Watch program if anybody cares to participate and input their sightings, counts, whereabouts, etc...

Thanks Rob...I tried to fill out the survey but I do not know where they are living so a lot of questions were left unanswered

i also find it difficult to say for certain that they're swifts vs swallows. they move so quickly and they're so distant that i'm 90% certain they are swifts, but they're flying in an area where there are a # of swallows.

Going to have a look at your photos now Richard. Once you watch them for a while, you'll be able to ID them easily. Swifts fly differently then swallows and have no real tail feathers, so look for that.    :)

yep. saw some on Queen st in the Beach area this wknd. i'm now a pro!
