Title: Glossy Ibis
Post by: newfoundlander61 on July 30, 2011, 06:20:48 PM
Great bird, lousy pic. Rare bird for Ontario, so just getting a pic was enough. Really important not to distrub such a species, so you take what nature gives you. Located near Cornwall Ontario.

I was lucky enough to spot one a few years ago just outside of Pt. Pelee National Park, in a popular birding area known as the onion fields. It was among several Canada Geese alongside a waterway and allowed myself and many other birders an excellent view. Later in the year, we saw it's cousin the White-faced Ibis at a bird sanctuary in Henderson, Nevada south of Las Vegas. Nice photo!

Great to get a look at one so close to home.  They actually have a lot of pretty colour when the light hits them right.
