Post by: Len Manning on August 08, 2011, 07:02:12 AM
On the OFO trip to Rock Point, we had a decent # of shorebirds at Rock Point PP.
The best bird here was a single WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER. There were SANDERLING, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER,KILLDEER,PECTORAL SANDPIPER, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and LEAST SANDPIPER all here as well. Dozens of CASPIAN TERNS and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER were seen as well.

After the trip, we headed to Townsend Lagoons near Jarvis. Hundreds of shorebirds here.
We added BAIRD'S SANDPIPER,SOLITARY SANDPIPER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER to our day list, and viewed dozens of others already mentioned. Certainly worth a visit.
