Title: Migrants This Morning at Sam Smith
Post by: Brian Bailey on May 05, 2007, 09:24:22 AM
I birded part of Sam Smith Park for an hour early this morning and found lots of new migrants.  First of year birds for me were:

1 Empidonax flycatcher (almost certainly Least)
Wood Thrush
Nashville Warbler
Yellow        "
Black-throated Blue    "
Black-throated Green   "
Black & White   "
American Redstart
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Lincoln's Sparrow, and
Northern Oriole.

A few White-crowned Sparrows have joined the many White-throated Sparrows.  Most of the warblers were silent, but a couple of orioles and a Brown Trasher were singing loudly.

There were probably lots more species I didn't see.  I didn't have time to get to some of the better birding spots.
