my very first sighting,let alone photos of a short-eared owl taken last week-end.

very tempted to say that this was the mystery raptor i saw on Thursday on Stoufville and 404 (couldn't see the head to ID it properly)

Kick ass shots!  And for a first time sighting.  I'd be all jittery and bouncy to take a decent shot.  Congrats.
