Title: Rough winged or Bank swallows
Post by: Napper on May 04, 2006, 07:40:14 PM
I revisited the same area tonight and got a couple of pics of what looked like a form of swallow.  I am undecided between rough winged swallow and  Bank Swallow. I know what barns swallows are because I have seen many including tonite. They are way to fast for me catch in flight.  My kids actually pointed them out to  me.   two different guides show diffferent images and plates?? Just checked out the cornell site and the Bank swalllow seems to have more defined white  and brown colour separation if that makes any sense. please note this started as a report not an RFI

Looks like Rough winged to me. Bank swallows have a white throat and a well defined dark band across the chest.
