Title: Beaver in the Rouge
Post by: Whittam on November 30, 2011, 04:10:21 PM
Even though the current was extremely strong, I saw a beaver crossing the Rouge river well south on the Vista trail this morning.  Cheers Terry

Beavers tend to be really strong swimmers and are quite resilient. I have seen a beaver swimming up the creek in Etobicoke against the current, and he/she was zooming along quite easily.

Cool,  I've seen that beaver in the dead of winter in the same general area of the Rouge, just east of the Vista trail, where the creek  goes under the trail leading to the Beare Wetlands. Just enough water was showing, he was dipping under a shelf of ice.
