Post by: American Redstart on December 12, 2011, 06:12:37 PM
I saw a Cooper's Hawk this afternoon. How regular are they in Toronto during winter?

Pretty common, particularly at bird feeders. I had at least 3 wintering near my house in mississauga last winter

Hey!

There is at least one Cooper's hunting along the older more mature perimeter square of our town.  recent schedule is,  8:00 am and

4:00pm near our house. I've Spotted one twice in the last three days in the same spot, same time on the way home from work.

Here in Milton a new juvenile seems to appear every October sticking around until spring.

Our feeders are have been full for two weeks with no activity.

I saw one flying over Keele and Bloor towards High Park today, and another chasing pigeons behind my apartment building on Royal York yesterday.
