Title: Maplewood Park - Pileated Woodpecker and more
Post by: Bird Brain on December 20, 2011, 02:23:11 PM
Hi everyone.  This afternoon, I was walking around Maplewood Park from 12-1pm.  Sighted the following:

Cardinal x 1 (male)
Chickadees - lots

Crows x 2 - sitting next to each other on a tree branch, watching me feeding squirrels.  One Crow swooped down, broke open a shelled peanut, scooped out & ate the peanut then kicked the shell aside - this was hilarious to observe!

Downy Woodpecker x 1 (female)
Hairy Woodpecker x 1 (female)

Pileated Woodpecker x 1 (female) - where was this beauty on Saturday for Christmas Bird Count?!

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
