Title: Wood Thrush
Post by: mike on May 18, 2007, 04:57:12 PM
I've only been birding for just over a year. I love it. This year for the last couple weeks we've had this beautiful call ringing out in the forest behind our building..Yonge/York Mills area. I finally caught a 30 second glimpse of it today. I figured a Thrush of some sort but wasn't sure. I did some quick research and nailed it right on with a Wood Thrush. Here's a URL to the call I've been hearing. I hope they stick around for awhile. Sounds like I'm in a Rainforest:o)

We also had a pair of Flickers nesting but I haven't heard them for a few days at least. I found their nest and have checked a couple times but haven't seen any action.

Great song of the thrush - thanks for that.

I managed to get another glimpse of it this morning. It won't let me get close though. This is the best I can do so far.

Here's a link to a few seconds of Pileated footage I took last week. A little difficult to see but you can definitely hear the drumming.
