My husband and I made the trek to Kingsville on New Year's Eve. It was well worth the trip to see this beautiful owl. We were treated to very close views as she flew from the roadside wire to a tree back a little bit and then to a tree right in front of us (which I had been silently wishing for). From here, she hunted three times consecutively in the roadside field. It was a very dull day and impossible to get good shutter speed for IFs. They would have definitely been the best shots as when she is perched, the backgrounds are very cluttered. Can't complain I guess - that's the habitat :) There were many people there including visitors from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, southern Ohio and Michigan (who had a lot shorter drive than us!)

Beautiful! Worth the drive, eh?

Thanks everyone! I don't have any updates on the bird and ONTBIRDS seems to have gone quiet. Denis and/or Meghan can likely advise.
Rob: Unless I missed it, I'm surprised you and Angie haven't hopped in the car to see this one :o
