Title: Carpenter bee's

Hello

Have any of you out there spotted any Carpenter Bee's

They look like the bumble bee but have shiny almost blue rear ends..

I have spotted 3 hanging around my fence.... weird looking.. looks like they are trying to get up inside..

never seen them before..

tough little bstds..  3 direct hits with broom and still flew away..... :shock:

Spotted one Saturday afternoon - it had accidentally wandered into the house (Mississauga)....apparently they nest in wood which may explain your fence.

I haven't seen any this year but for the last 3 years we have had to get someone in to eliminate their nests on our deck.  This year we have a new deck so they may not be interested until the pressure treatment wears off a bit.
