This truly majestic owl from the boreal forest has blessed us with his presence for the past two weeks. First seen on December 22nd. The Great Grey has been hunting by the roadside ditches and thus far averaging six mice a day and the odd squirrel. Many photographers from far and wide all around and at times approach to within ten feet to get that "perfect" shot. The bird is tame by nature but we all should excersise common sense and not subject the great hunter to further stress. Worth the drive to Kingsville for this rare opportunity. Road 2 northwest of town and you'll see all the cars.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info.
Anyone know if he is still there?

No reports since Wed Jan 11.

Thanks Thomas.
Today weather was mostly great so someone must have gone. But...
-
Briefly seen Saturday, but it appears the bird is now hunting off the road and out of sight

Was by today but didn't spot him although I didn't have the luxury of time. I'll be free tomorrow and I'll post an update. I hope the 50 degree weather didn't drive the poor fella away.

Judging from your pics he is still around there somewhere and not shy of people either. :)
-
I spent nearly 3 hours searching but alas to no avail. He's either hunting deeper in the woods or has flown back to cooler temperatures. I'll check the area again tomorrow and I'll be sure to post if I hear or see anything.

Thanks, much appreciated.
