So of course I just had to go back. It's just too beautiful a bird not to visit.
I'm planning one last trip out there this week. 3rd time's the charm right?
I'd like to thank Moira for helping me with this first shot. :D
I really need to get photoshop.

Great shots Meghan....... 3rd trip, I guess you are trying to get on on first names basis with it ........When no one is looking have it land in your car and bring him back to Mississauga, we will make room for him in Riverwood :D :D

i ve never seen a bird, wild bird that would cooperate so well while taking pictures.
i met people from Toronto as well as US. Many people drove for hours to see it.

This bird sure is getting its 15 minutes of fame.
Big article in friday's Toronto Star.
A real rockstar owl.

According to the latest Ontbird post, the Great Gray Owl hasn't been seen since Wednesday.

Thanks to that post... or should I say thanks to Moira for reading that post and letting me know... we saved ourselves a very long drive for nothing.
I emailed someone who lives out there and I was told the owl made a "very brief" appearence Saturday. It seems it is now hunting off road and out of sight.
For anyone who had planned to go out there to see the Great Grey, I suggest holding off untill there are more consistent sightings. (if there will be) I have been out there twice and had great success both times. I had no problem with plans to go a third time on Sunday or even a fourth time taking someone who couldn't make it there on their own, so trust me when I say if I'm not going to make the drive out there right now, it's not worth going. :)

Thanks macman for the compliments, yes it's the same Owl from the story in the TS. It looks like he's flown the coop through. No confirmed sighting since the 11th.
Right now I'm using a 300mm 2.8 It's a used older model that does not have VR but it can be just as good of a lens and I saved about $3000.
Irene!!! Thanks girl. Always awesome to hear from you!!!
