A few animal shots from my Edmonton trip as well, While not Ontario birds, alot of members seem to have strong interest in the 4-legged friends as well so I will add these to the "anything goes" section.
There is a huge national park just 30min east of Edmonton called Elk Island national park and has wood bison, plains bison, elk, moose, white-tail and mule deer on regular basis, The highway runs thru park and separates the bison species, mine where seen along highway hence fence line can be seen in photos. It was sunny and clear everyday while I was there except for the day I went to Elk Island when a huge snow storm hit ....figures..and hence my pics are a bit fuzzy and dark.
I also saw a few more unusual little ones as well... 2 snowshoe hares, white-tailed jackrabbit in the city area, and 2 lynx on a game farm that were found as kittens and being raised to adults
enjoy:

I like the lynx shots, quite the large paws in the last one!

Too bad about the weather. Did you drive into the park? We were in the middle of a herd of Bison last time.

Yes, we did drive thru the park as well as all around it. I booked thru a local tour operator because of not knowing the area but because of the snow storm, most animals were keeping very quiet and were only seen from hwy. I think it would be better if visited during any other time but in winter but had no choice, trip was for work in Edmonton not for pleasure

That's too bad. Next time, keep in mind that Jasper National Park is only 4hrs away, well worth staying an extra few days for.
