Surprise visit with a pair of Hooded Mergansers at Lake Aquitaine today. Also the usual suspects - lots of Cardinals, Blue Jays, Chickadees, Doves, Mockingbird, Gulls, Mallards, Geese, a few Robins, and plenty of Red Winged Blackbirds ( to many to keep track of the numbers).

Hi Bob. 8) Wow, that's awesome! I've never sighted Hooded Merganser at Lake Aquitaine before. Many years ago, there was a pair at Lake Wabukayne. The female took off but the male remained for a couple of years. He would swim right up to people, put his head back and let loose with what sounded like a blender whirring!
At some point, I need to go for a walk around the lake and then up to Maplewood Park - especially after reading ostrich's Cooper's Hawk thread. :D
