Hi everyone. I was walking around Maplewood Park this afternoon between 2-4pm. Sighted the following:
Cooper's Hawk (female) - flew right across the front of my face then went to sit in nest at NW corner of woods. 1/2 hour later, she flew down to fallen log in the woods and was sunning her face and chest. Then she turned around and was calling to the male - he was replying but I never did see him. Squirrels were running right by the female!
Downy Woodpecker x 1 (female)
Red-breasted Nuthatch x 1 (male)
Also sighted 3 Mourning Cloak butterflies.
Maplewood Park: East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.
