Nighthawk heard at Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve in the evening. We also saw a few sandhill cranes in the boggy lake near the parking lot.

Nighthawks are generally not heard until May. Could it have been an American Woodcock, they are doing their flight displays at this time of year.
