Approximately 1,000 American Coots have gathered at the Big Creek watershed just outside of Amherstburg. Cute little guys and very gregarious. I especially like to watch them take off with their unusually sluggish way considering their small size. It almost looks that their feet are weighted down, paddling away for a distance before finally leaving the water surface, similar to the mute swans.
