Eastern Screech Owls I have seen in my travels. Surely you will agree that they know something about color matching.
Red on Red.

Grey on Grey.

Brown on Brown.

Please don't inquire about locations. It's wasted key strokes on your behalf.

Nice series. I like how the third one has also picked a hollow that matches the shape of its head.

These are beautiful! Easy to see why they're your favourite owl (my daughter would like to cuddle the grey one!). I feel I've been lucky to see just one this year - but I wonder how many I've walked right past without noticing!
-
Maybe they are part chameleon? Good eye to find these!

Ya, the creatures of the wild sure are something!
Number 3 there definitely kicked it up a notch, as mentioned, with how the cavity is shaped, eh. A pair of angry Robins and some Chickadees pointed him out to me. They sure were unhappy with his presence.
Trillian, did you happen to read my blog? Noticing your mention of 'my favorite'. I can only imagine how many we may have passed in our travels. I've seen some photos of these Owls that you really got to look for them in the shot.

These are great Rob, yes they sure know how to blend in.

I am always out looking for Owls, any Owl, and can never find one. And here you have three? OWL HOG! :x
