It's a beaver. Thanks for the correction Feathered... aquatic animals start looking alike when wet :lol:
This animal was swimming around in a shallow area of water on the Northwest side of the Spit on 3/25, towards dusk.

As exciting as otters at the Spit would be, that is indeed a beaver.

This time it may have been a beaver, but don't be surprised if you do see otters at the Spit. Last year I watched two otters cross the east path beside the spine road. They were very close to me, so no mistaking them for mink, which are less than half the size.
