With all the postings about Fish Crows on ontbirds it seems strange no photos have emerged. Is this species in Ontario or are the calls/sightings being confused with the various calls crows can make.

The OBRC will have to decide on the validity of the sightings. There were a couple of photos posted on the OFO site in January, but really, a Fish Crow on its own looks pretty much identical to an American Crow. A photo of a Fish Crow next to an American Crow would help show the size difference, but you can't capture the call or the flight style in a still photo.

Yeah, photos need to be pretty good to identify, I don't have a camera but even with one I couldn't have gotten identifiable shots of any of my 4 sightings so far around the university of guelph.

Thanks for the post backs. Just curious if this is a species found in our area or are they being mistaken for a regular crow species, never seen one myself.
