My first visit to Colonel Danforth Park of this year. The kingfishers are back, watched them fish in the swampy area. No Cedar Waxwings or Great Blue Heron yet. Of course plenty of the usuals, Grackles, RWBB, mallards and others. Spotted a Kestrel just above the trees on the west side of the swamp. Didn't see the beaver but evidence of its activities abound. Soon there will be Salmon and all the fishermen! Hope to get out to this small park more often this year.

Always love seeing these guys Gary, they are very hard to get close to, well done.

Thanks Reg, you're right, It took several tries before I got a decent shot.....I had to wait and observe his feeding pattern. It took about 25 minuted before finally he was within range. Too bad I didn't get the shot of him diving down to feed.

A small correction. Salmons go upstream during the fall. During springtime, there are Rainbow Trout going upstream for spawning.

Oh man, you are right, I knew that.! My mistake, ....it is trout season.....Salmon come up in September (Fall), I see them in large numbers sometimes at the Bluffs. There was one trout fisherman there that day at Cl. Danforth flying fishing.
