Title: Fox Sparrows-Leslie Spit
Post by: Molebird on April 12, 2012, 03:59:58 PM
Thanks to T.F we saw our first Fox Sparrows after a sneaky mid week visit today to the Baselands at Leslie Spit. They were unmistakeable and in their resplendent colouring and entertained us with their singing. We also met the two large black dogs (off-leash!) but did not complain as the dogs looked hungry!
We continued through the paths to Cherry Beach and were amazed to listen to a Northern Mocking Bird giving us his complete musical repertoire. It was like a "best of" CD for Northern Mockingbirds! We had 23 species sightings in total including Eastern Phoebe, Northern Flickers and both Ruby and Gold-crowned Kinglets.
