Title: Leslie Spit Wet Woods is also dog free...read on...
Post by: mr.sharp-photo on April 19, 2012, 08:21:11 AM
Apparently, a gentleman brings his two large dogs to run free through the wet woods.
I had some (non-heated) words with him, telling him that the Spit's dog free. He claims that the wet woods are federal lands and not part of the park.

I looked into it and contacted the people at TTP. they assured me that the wet woods are part of the park and are supposed to be dog free. they also said that bylaw officers would be coming to ensure it remains dog free.

so if you see anyone with dogs that's in the wet woods, please let them know that they shouldn't be there (and they likely won't care what you say) and bylaw officers are apparently more present in the park (they will care about that)

Municipal code 349, section 11C when dogs are off the property of the owner they must be on a leash and the leash must be less than 2 meters in length.

The fine is $240 x 2, would equal a lovely, $480 fine.

Hope he got what he deserves.  I have had the same issues at High Park with ignorant dog owners.  The bylaw people can't be everywhere, I am told, but when they are there, it is ZERO tolerance.

I personally have zero sympathy for dog owners.  I used to own 2, I currently have 1, and it is leashed and I have my bags with me when we walk.

The parks are there for everyone to enjoy, responsibly!
