Title: Chimney Swifts and others - Grimsby
Post by: Bluffs Birder on April 19, 2012, 08:29:02 PM
Some of the non-raptor highlights during yesterday's Beamer Hawk Watch in Grimsby include the following:

Common Loon - 10+
Sandhill Crane - 2
Chimney Swift - 3
Barn Swallow - 2
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 1
Brown Thrasher - 1
Chipping Sparrow - 1

Thanks again to everyone involved on the tower for allowing me to be part of the team for the day.  I really enjoyed it!

Hey Walter,

You picked a great day to go, almost a 1000 raptors passed through.

Hi Mike,

The day was chosen because of wind direction, a very important factor when it comes to hawk watching.

I had my 'first of year' Chimney Swift this evening in Hamilton.
