I spent the whole morning birding the lakeshore of Mississauga from Rattray Marsh to Lakefront Promenade. The highlight was the huge number of swallows, which were present along the entire lakeshore but most concentrated just east of the mouth of the Credit River. My conservative estimate is 2500 trees, 1500 barns and 300 northern rough-winged. I managed to pick out 1 chimney swift and 1 bank swallow, but couldn't find a cliff or martin despite scanning through swallows for over an hour in total.
Other notable species included:
Among the common waterfowl, wood duck, green-winged teal, american wigeon, both scaup, ring-necked duck, white-winged scoter and common merganser.
Common loon and the 3 common grebes
Black-crowned Night-heron
American Coot
Spotted Sandpiper
Common and Caspian Tern
The 6 normal woodpeckers including 1 pileated heard at rattray
Carolina, House and Winter Wren
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher
Yellow-rumped (everywhere) and Pine Warbler
Savannah and Swamp Sparrow
Rusty Blackbird
