Question Mark, Mourning Cloak, Monarch, Summer Azure, Silver-Spotted Skipper, Clouded Sulpher, Orange Sulpher, Cabbage White, Horace's Duskywing, Pearl Crescent, Common Buckeye, Red Admiral, White Admiral, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Wild Indigo Duskywing, Eastern Tailed Blue, European Skipper, Hobomok Skipper, Little Wood Satyr, Viceroy.

Hi Janet,

That's a great list of butterflies!  If I may suggest, your Horace's Duskywing was more than likely another Wild Indigo.  The Horace's Duskywing has only been recorded once in the Toronto region, on August 7th of last year at Tommy Thompson Park.  A photo was taken and used for positive identification.  Were you fortunate enough to get any photos?  The way this butterfly year has gone so far, anything is possible!

Great capture Janet!  If I was a bettin' man, I'd go with a Wild Indigo Duskywing.

I found BAMONA (Butterflies and Moths of North America) http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org first as they invite beginners to submit sightings with photos and they will validate / ID them.

Both groups use photos to validate identification, eButterfly has a poor user interface but does allow others to link to your reports where BAMONA has an easy user interface but doesn't provide a method of linking.
