This one has a rather peculiar behaviour - he likes to look at the dragonflies perched around him or whizzing past.
Even took a dive at one and instead plopped head first into the water. Poor guy!

Question - the incident caused me to try to find an answer to do GBH swin but could not find anything. Anyone know?

4.

5. Just before he went "plop". Getting the dragon in the shot would have been asking for too much. :)

6. All wet and foolish looking after the head first fall into the pond. I dont think they swim so he is standing in that chest high water.

no they don't swim as do most birds don't , just float or walk around.....with the exception of diving ducks, loons, grebes and such.......and of coarse penguins..you know I had to mention these

They generally don't swim.  I have only ever seen a GBH swim once and only briefly (less than a minute).  It sat in the water like a miniature swan.

It was many years ago so I don't recall the season (if maybe it was a juvenile), but I clearly recall the location: the middle of the Ottonabee River in at least five metres of water.

Thanks for the confirmation.

So in this case his long legs sort of helped save himself. He probably could not have flown to safety without the aid of a firm launch pad. Lucky!

I like how you can see the Dragon Fly he is stalking.
#4 for me, I like how he is just creeping out of the reeds. Good job getting him in focus amongst all the greenery.
