Drama in the backyard

I had a feeding bonanza yesterday, eight different species, with over thirty birds were at my feeders until......the sharp-shinned hawk showed up. Sadly, it took out one of the six regular Cardinals that come to feed everyday. A pair of Downy woodpeckers froze still in fear on the feeders for almost an hour, well after the hawk had left with its meal. The Redpolls will probably not be back for awhile.

Nice assortment of birds.
What a treat to be able to see them all from the comfort of your (warm) home.
Great shot of the Sharpe....too bad about the Cardinal.
.those Hawks always seem to get the birds we like don't they?
