Early this morning Phil Lameira and I observed the Snowy Egret in the pond on Grist Mill Road in Campbellcroft (north of Port Hope). It was very interesting to watch the bird as it tried to walk on and also hunt for food on the thin layer of ice that was covering our end of the pond. After about 5 minutes or so it flew up and joined a flock of Canada Geese where the water wasn't frozen.
