Just got in from Ward's Island where I observed a Lawrence's Warbler for almost five minutes at a distance of twenty to forty feet at about 3 pm this afternoon. A dead ringer for Sibley's backcross adult male. Initially, I heard it making little chips and I'm very glad I investigated. It was just west of a trailer at Shaw House which is between the Algonquin Island bridge and the Firehall. There is a structure covered in a blue tarp and the warbler was moving back and forth from dead leaves on the surface of the tarp to the tree branches nearby. I even had time to consult my Peterson field guide as he was very cooperative. Sorry, no camera.
