Black Crowned Night Heron

Thanks to james' tip, I found five Black Crowned Night Herons roosting right by the DVP and Queen Street.  Curious place to roost.  Also saw a Kingfisher.

I was there today, but cannot find the way to the under the bridge, do you mind telling me where you find them? Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.  Haven't been on my computer nearly the whole weekend.  There is a set of stairs leading down from the Queen street bridge (on the south-west side) down to a path for joggers and bicycle riders.  Once you go down the stairs you will notice them in the trees on the other side of the river.

I went there today and saw 12 (7 adults, 5 juveniles) there just north of the bridge. There were 2 in the trees on the west side (jogger/biker side) but the rest were amongst the trees on the far side next to the highway.
Was able to get my first pictures of this wonderful bird.

I was down early this morning and managed to get a picture of the Juvenile south of the bridge doing the "Hokey Pokey"



Most of the adults were on the east side of the river or obscured by branches.
I am not sure if there is a way to get to the east side of the river without running across the DVP, I don't need a picture that bad.
A canoe would sure be handy.

There were two that were in the trees on the side next to the bike/walking path. They weren't close or over the path, just on the far side of the tree over the water. I'd say this one was about 8-10 meters away though. The two in this tree were so kind and patient to just stay there calmly and let me snap a few pictures of them.
