Love (lust?) is in the air at Oakbank Pond - well, ok, it's really in the water! I stopped by for a few minutes on Wednesday afternoon even though I knew the pond was still mostly frozen over and not much would be happening. As expected the pond WAS deserted but there was a pair of mallards in one of the pools between the boardwalk and the road. The light was very nice so I took a few pictures but when they started bobbing heads I started shooting video and before too long he pushed her under the water and, well, you know...guess they didn't know I was watching! For the record, until a few years ago I was also one of those people who had no use for video on still cameras but, looking at stills and videos from last summer (mostly hummingbirds), with very few exceptions I enjoy watching the videos (especially those of the young hummers trying to figure out how to 'use' the feeder!) more than looking at the stills.
