Jewelweed

A lot of the jewelweed I am seeing and have around our property has yellow flowers this year.  We went for a walk and saw plants with both yellow and orange, but I am noticing yellow seems to be in the majority.  Does anyone know if the plants from year to year produce both colors and/or certain conditions for one colour over another.  It does not matter the colour, I still really like this wildflower.

To quote myself the yellow and orange kinds are different species although both are native to North America. According to the Peterson’s Field Guide to Wildflowers, the yellow version is called Pale Touch-Me-Not or Jewelweed, Impatiens pallida. The orange one is Spotted Touch-Me-Not or Jewelweed, Impatiens capensis.

Where I grew up, we only had the orange kind.

Both are reportedly antidotal to Poison Ivy.

Thanks for the info.  Still enjoy the plant no matter the colour.  Fortunately, no poisin ivy, but good to know.
