The Tree Swallows have returned to the Leslie Spit (aka Tommy Thompson Park) and were checking out the bird houses and enjoying the bugs that appeared thanks to a touch of warm weather. A very ragged Great Blue Heron flew across and around Cell 1 - missing flight feathers and looking pretty desperate. The ice is going so it may find a place to fish if things don't freeze up again this weekend with the poor forecast we have in store. Many Ring-necked and Canvasback ducks in Cell 1 and Bay D.
Best of the day was a stunning light-morph Rough-legged Hawk that drifted slowly by. So many people going along the paths where I was and not a soul was looking up to take in this amazing sight. Who needs chocolate when you get Easter treats like that!
