Very nice shot.
We were out earlier in the week and the bird was not co-operating at all!

i was out there for 10 minutes max. walked on the path. saw photographers on the east side of the bike path. the bird was flying from sapling to sapling along the path and posing on each one for 30 seconds. it flew past me to the next sapling. i snapped away and c'est tout.

That sounds like a good approach. I was there very briefly yesterday morning. A small group of photographers were following the bluebird as you describe. I had a nice look as she went by, but wasn't close enough for a decent photo. I didn't think it was worth joining the chase and stressing her any further.

This is exactly the same behaviour we saw and we were there for an hour. The trouble was the bird was either going in the wrong direction or bypassing us. We got some shots but it never perched close enough to us to get anything decent!

it was kind of funny, though. i wanted to walk to my car and you had no choice but to flush her from tree to tree. not really sure why she won't fly to other trees further south.
the photographers further down the path owe me a beer for that.

and there was at least 1 person standing off the path on private property. i asked him to move, so i hope other birders respect both the bird and property

Very nice photo of a beautiful bird - it is a privilege to see it up close.
