I was jogging on the Beltline trail underneath the Governor's Bridge north of the Brickworks at 3:30 this afternoon when a large owl flew over my head.It would perch on a tree limb for a few minutes and look around and then fly 50-100m further up the ravine.It was silent.I assume it was hunting.I think it was a Barred Owl.It had very black eyes,thick brown horizontal stripes and thin cream coloured stripes on its back and no ear tufts.It was not difficult to track the owl because there are no leaves on the trees and it would start flying every few minutes.
