I assume that most know that there are ongoing reports of a male King Eider at Colonel Sam's Park

It was there as of yesterday afternoon in the marina.

First year male. If my reading of the guide books is right, he won't get breeding plumage for another year...perhaps by then he'll have figured out where he's supposed to be hanging out as well.

By chance, Phil L and myself saw the much reported adult male that was in Port Weller back in January of 2012.  That bird was a beauty!  Of course I left my camera in the car!  If that was the only bird we were going to see that day it still would've been worth the drive.

whoops. i thought that one was a juvie. the days i was near the eider, he was in mid-pond. needed binocs or a scope.
