Visited the Spit again this Saturday, saw a lot of new birds! Had problems with identifying these three birds and was hoping for some help.

Could not identify this one at all, did not look like anything in my field guide.

Could see that this was a juvenile Gull, but beyond that I could not figure out which one, they all look so much alike

Greater or Lesser Scaup for this bird?

Thanks everyone in advance!

In the 1st photo, it's a Golden Crowned Kinglet.  I'd never seen one up until today when I was @ the Spit as well. :D

2nd one looks like a Herring Gull (Immature, 1st year, perhaps?) - Note the unique head shape ;)

3rd one looks like a Greater Scaup (little to no barring in the white flank area of the plumage).

Nice captures, too!!

I agree with 1 and 3, but the 2nd looks like a 1st winter Great Black-backed Gull with it's whitish head and belly and it's giant bill.

Greater Scaup - wow... neat.  I've never seen one of these.  Thanks for posting!
