Some friends of mine -- non-birders -- have told me that they have a pair of merlins that nest high up in a tree on their property (located between Hanover and Walkerton). Apparently the pair are back already and nesting.
They report that they often find bird heads at the base of the tree.
Wondering what the odds of this are and the similar species that might be mistaken for a merlin....Perigrine's and Kestrel have different nesting habits than the merlin...
