My five friends and I do an annual Mother's Day trip to Pelee. There were birds that we missed this year but there were also some good sightings. We had a total of 103 species over the three days.
We found 21 warblers. The highlights included:
- a male Cerulean warbler, which was at eye level and hung around for a long time
- a Louisiana Waterthrush
- a female Hooded warbler, which was our last bird of the trip
- Blackpoll and Tennessee warblers
Other notables:
- 5 Wild Turkeys, one of which ran in front of our car
- a pair of Wood Ducks in a tree
- a Black Vulture feeding on the beach
- a Trumpeter Swan in one of the irrigation canals near the onion fields
- a pair of Rusty Blackbirds
- a Red-Headed Woodpecker
I heard the Sandhill Cranes, but unfortunately I didn't see them.
