When I first saw the nest in a tree hole, the parent bird was flying around but did not seem to be feeding the baby or babies as frequently as I would imagine. They just called each other back and forth for a while.
Then a bird flew out of the nest. I thought it was a parent.
Then I heard calls from the ground, it was the fledgling! Then the fledgling flew to a tree branch and started hopping.
The parent bird flew to approach the young. Perhaps it was still feeding the baby?
The link shows the fledgling. There were too many nasty moth caterpillars. One actually crawled on my leg, yikes! I hope they provide good meals to the birds. I left.
