Bird sound I.D.

Yesterday I found a interesting app that is free that can be used to I.D. bird song/sounds. It is called Bird Net developed by Cornell University. Tested it yesterday with no luck but this morning it was able to I.D. A Red Eyed Vireo and a Northern Parula in one 10 second stretch of recording. Surprised that it works on my ancient Blackberry with all the Google spy stuff turned off. I tried Merlin Bird I.D. last with no success.

I remain very challenged when trying to remember bird calls and songs. Once I learn to recognize them in the field I forget it all again when I don't get out for a while. My phone has a cord attached and I mostly ignore it when it rings.
