Been a slow couple of days for birds , so I will recount a chance meeting I had with a coyote today. I was at a local park, when I saw a birder in distance looking at something in a tree, I notice a coyote heading his way with something dark in its mouth, I was thinking cat or duck as was too far away. Coyote stopped in its tracks then turned around and head away in opposite direction, birder never even saw it. I shot of some quick shots but was along ways away. When I got home I looked at pictures , only to see a coyote pup hanging in the mouth of its mother...now I am really sorry I missed the shot! Pup's head can be seen hanging upside down in mouth but due to dogwoods , shot is very blurry
I decided to go back and have another look around, and who should I see again on same trial...but minus the pup... the mother. I got a few more shots this time but was unable to find the den ...but it has got to be in area, will have to keep an eye out to see if such an encounter can happen again....have to love Spring Time
