I am assuming that your flowering plant is some sort of green orchid and I like your decision to shoot it with the bleak background that currently represents the out-of-doors. The juxtaposition of the rich green and the bleached squalor is effective. I also like the ruddy section of background in the second shot as a complement to the green. I've cropped differently though. Eliminating the pot because it serves to purpose in the photo and just capturing the green and the dull background. I used a little ruddy-coloured light in the background ... very subtle.
 
I hope you don't mind. If you do mind I promise not to do it again. I think.

Thanks for cropping out the pot. But I did want it to be really really green.
