I heard a loud repeated call in the woods and it wasn't Tarzan. Wouldn't be great if it was. Anyway, since the undergrowth has presently underwhelming it was easy to walk into parts that would be impenetrable a few months from now. I followed the call of what was likely a wren, but not a house wren. Eventually I located a Carolina wren (male) singing away. The female was nearby and collecting nesting material. The sunlight was warm and low. The first time I caught a Carolina wren on an isolated perch I was equipped with a 135mm lens. The second time was with a 200mm lens. This time I had my TC-combo to give me 420mm. The male was on an isolated reed perch. The female emerged from a log. Subsequently it was much farther away in a tree and I managed to find a window between the branches to get a few shots. The low sunlight created too much contrast.
