TV have been reported in the west end of TO for at least a week now but I haven't seen one yet out east (Pickering). I went out today looking for Am. Woodcock in a place where I spotted one last year but I couldn't find any today. A woodcock is hard to see because it is so well camouflaged and it doesn't make much noise except when it flushes and then all you get to see is the tail end making a hasty escape. I heard a Pileated WP but didn't see it. In fact, there wasn't much to see at all. A single Am. Song sparrow, a single RBWP and a couple of crows. Oh ya, I saw my FOY Belted kingfisher. It was quite warm at 12 degrees but the wind was picking up so I curtailed my woodcocking activities because I didn't want a tree limb to come crashing down onto my head. I saw several large pieces fall while I was out. Also, I discovered that my left rubber boot must have a hole in it because I could feel the cold water seep in when I walked through puddles.
